Kids Give! is a program of the Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse to teach our youth about the value of philanthropy and the role nonprofits play in our communities.
The goals of Kids Give! are to:
1. Teach the value of philanthropy and that everyone can make a difference,
2. Highlight the variety of non-profits in our community and raise awareness of community needs, and
3. Demonstrate the impact non-profits have on the quality of life in our community.
How Kids Give! works
AGMP donors sponsor a classroom with $50 or more.
Community volunteers lead 45-minute classroom activities where students learn about nonprofits, their missions, and what they can do with just $1.
Students engage in collaborative decision-making exercises to decide how to spend their $50 at the Market.
Kids Give! History
Since 2009, AGMP has been in classrooms with hands-on opportunities for kids to put their empathy into action.
In 2012, Kids Give! was in 18 K-12 classrooms in the Moscow School District, sponsored by a University of Idaho Office of Community Partnerships grant to develop curriculum to meet grade-specific learning objectives.
Since 2013 Kids Give! has been carried out annually in twelve 4th grade classrooms in Moscow.
