Updates for 2018
After an amazing tenure Mary Silvernale Shook, Dianne Daily-Larson and Renee Hill will be stepping down in their leadership roles. Stepping in to fill those shoes are Christine Gilmore, Jamie Hill and Sandra Kelly. Dan Noble will continue as our “man-behind-the-numbers guru”. We are excited to carry the torch of giving into the 10th year of AGMP.
The mission of the Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse is to provide our community with a meaningful alternative to holiday gift giving and an opportunity to support local nonprofits. We strive to enhance community well-being and sustainability through celebrating personal charity and community partnerships.
The Market strives to make fundraising as easy and fun as possible for your organization and potential donors. Accepted nonprofits will design a shopping list of cash designations, ranging in value from $5 – $100, reflecting the needs of their organization. For each donation the giver/shopper will receive a holiday card provided by the market and an insert with a description of the organization and gift, which can be sent as a gift to family and friends.
All funds will be collected and distributed to each participating nonprofit group by the Latah County Community Foundation no later than December 31, 2018. The Market and its partners will provide: some promotional and advertising materials; tax receipts; tables and chairs; volunteers needed to run the Market; possible activities for children & music; and an extended online giving option. There is no exchange of merchandise at the Market. It is solely to collect cash donations to meet specific needs of your organization. One tax receipts will be provided to each shopper, issued from the fiscal sponsor, the Latah County Community Foundation (not from individual participating organizations).
The Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse strives to represent nonprofit groups in the following areas: Animals; Arts; Civic Improvement; the Environment; Health and Human Services; and Youth and Education. Organizations with an international focus in any of these areas, but who can demonstrate a strong local Palouse presence/support are welcome to apply. Space is limited. Organizations will be accepted within the categories stated above, and to achieve our goal that the Market reflects the broad spectrum of needs in our community. To improve your organization’s chances of acceptance, it is highly recommended you apply as soon as the application window opens and demonstrate a strong local presence of service in Latah County within one of the categories listed above.
